Verbal Ability - Question Of The Day

QUESTION:
The following question has a paragraph from which the last sentence has been deleted. From the given options, choose the one that completes the paragraph in the most appropriate way.

One often finds the corporate world teeming with false leaders. They know to walk the walk and talk the talk, but simply don’t know what the talk is all about. They know how to dress, how to carry their laptops and their Blackberrys, what cars to drive, which clubs to join, where to be seen, with whom and how to use words like ‘value enhancement’ and ‘on the same page’. In other words, they know the behaviour that projects them as ‘corporate leaders’.  ____.

OPTIONS
1)But they rely on their degrees, credentials and testimonies.
2)But they do not know how to do business.
3)But they have no clue as to what leadership actually means.
4)But they never immerse themselves in market research.
5)And a good mime can fool an audience.

Solution

The purpose of the paragraph is to highlight the false leaders in the corporate world – they are mere appearances with the right ‘degrees’ etc. But they have no clue as to what true leadership means.
Option 1 gives one more detail about their falseness but it does not close the paragraph.
Option 2 is correct but loses out to option 3 because the paragraph is about leadership.
Option 4, like option 1, continues the paragraph.
Option 5 is an unwarranted generalization.
Option 3 closes the paragraph smoothly.
Hence, the correct answer is option 3.
