QUESTION - Dear Sir, I have given the examination of BBA final year and waiting for result. I m sure that I will clear it and I will get aggregate 60+%. I have given the entrance of MAT Feb 10 and got 50% and also gave the entrance of UPTU and got 17528 GEN rank so which type of college I will get? Also please tell me that in which MBA college I will get through UPTU?
                                                                                     - RAHMAT SIDDIQUI

ANSWER – Dear Mr. Rahmat Siddiqui, as you have just appeared in your BBA final semester examinations and waiting for the results. It’s good that you are assured about your result; I wish you all the best for your results. As you are waiting for your results which may be declared till next month. In this case I will suggest you to prepare well for Sept. MAT 2010. You have enough time for that and no extra burden like college, internals, externals etc. So, the best possible way to make your career better is to get focused for SEPT.MAT 2010 and improve your percentile. It will help you to move in much better college than any college you will get through UPTU with 17528 GEN rank.
Now, about the colleges which you may get with this rank – You have two options, either move to some average college recognized by UPTU within your range (location) or you can try Management Quota which is going to costly, very costly.

QUESTION – Dear MBA Informer, I am a 2nd year MBA student. Right now industries are visiting my college for placements. I hope I will also get a good job soon. My problem is that I have no job experience. So, I want to know that what are the basic skills required when one enters an office, so that one could manage himself in the office environment with ease?

- Shreya Chauhan, Indore

ANSWER – Dear Shreya, as you will be joining your first job soon so in this case confidence is most essential skill you should have. In addition you must be open minded and friendly. But you should not be too personal in your dealing. Professionalism is another essential skill you should have. Also it is important not to be carried away by the degrees that one has attained as in each office you to unlearn and re-learn the way a particular office functions. Believe yourself, have confidence and keep learning the new things related to your job to remain update, it will give you additional advantages. Good Luck

QUESTION – Dear Sir, I am a 3rd year B.C.A. student. My, CAT, MAT &XAT percentile are 40, 66 & 70 respectively. I have 70% in graduation, 80% in metric and 77% in 10+2. I want to know which colleges I should apply to, as there are several colleges and in different magazines there are with different rankings. So I am confused. Please help me.

- Mamta Saxena, New Delhi

ANSWER – From your academic record it is indeed clear you are good at studies. But your MBA entrance tests results are creating a hindrance to move ahead. If you have time then I would suggest you to reappear with good preparation. However, if you want to move ahead then you should apply to colleges with your XAT score, as it is the best. Regarding the rankings of the colleges, I would suggest you to look into top ranked B-schools in some well known magazines as well as comparing it to the data available on internet finding out the status of the same B-school in other national and International level surveys. Don’t get trapped into results of surveys conducted by local magazines as the results are misleading. In these surveys the results will start varying after TOP 20 colleges of INDIA.
