With all the announcements and planning for a successful CAT 2010, there is no doubt that the count down for participants has already begun. With almost three months in hand, you really need to plan your preparation strategy and execute it accordingly. In this article, we will provide you the study plan for the month of August, when it will be approximately three months left for the CAT. CAT experts gives you the study plan for the three sections of CAT 2010 exam, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation and Verbal Ability .
Here goes the strategy to tame the CAT.
Quantitative Ability
First of all you need to figure out all the topics covered under the Quantitative Ability, such as Arithmetic, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry, Speed-Time-Distance etc. You must practice enough questions from all these topics. “Do 25 to 30 questions daily covering all the aspects of Quantitative Ability - Algebra, arithmetic, geometry, Mensuration, speed-time-distance questions etc.” experts says.
Verbal Ability
To score good in this section of CAT, reading is the best way to prepare. Reading articles everyday covering every possible topic and reading books with variation can be the best tool. Read at least five to six articles daily, preferably within 30 minutes or so. You should make sure that there is sufficient variety in what they read since they can get passages on any subject-history, geography, sociology, philosophy, psychology, literature, business/ economics, politics etc. This practice will help you for the Reading Comprehension portion of the Verbal Ability section in lesser time as well increase your vocab. Power too.
In addition to prepare on your vocabulary, learn around 10 to 15 new words/ idioms/ phrases each day and revise these till they know the meaning and understand the context in which these words are used.
You need too follow these strategies to grab scores in this section.
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning
Practice makes the man perfect. Same rule applies here too. Practice is the best key for scoring well in the section of Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. You should practice Data Interpretation sets and Logical Reasoning questions every day. Do around three to four Data Interpretation sets daily and about eight to ten Logical Reasoning questions.
Apart from the daily section wise practice, you must also scan though previous years’ CAT test papers and understand the pattern of the exam. Look through past CAT papers to understand the nature of questions that could appear in the exam.
