All About NMAT 2011

    Applicants can choose their centers and slots for the Online NMAT 2011.

    India’s second largest online (CBT) MBA entrance test NMAT, which went online and concluded successfully last year, is now set to offer a choice of 3 attempts to MBA aspirants to get into India’s premier B-school Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) ranked 7th Best as per recent Businessworld survey.

    The test will be conducted a time frame of 3 months  starting from October 2010, allowing choice of two Retakes to the students, with the best of three scores being considered for admissions toMBA Core, MBA-Capital market, MBA-Banking, MBA-Actuarial Science, MBA-Pharmaceutical Management, MBA-HR, PGDM and EPGDBM programs at NMIMS. The online registration for NMAT will start from 8th September 2010.

    Talking about the new format of NMAT, Dr Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS said, “This year, we are graduating to the next level of computer-based testing, which will provide convenience to the students not only in terms of selection of the date for the NMAT, but will also help them to improve upon their performance and hence improve their chances of success in NMIMS MBA programs. We believe that in today’s times, the NMAT in its new format should empower the student to give his best performance for admission to our institution.”

    Pearson VUE, the company that had administered the NMAT–2010 without any glitches, will conduct the NMAT 2011 in 18 centres all over the country at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna and Raipur


    The exam has three sections. The sections are Language Skills, Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning. Total number of questions is 150. Total time allotted is 120 minutes.

    NMAT 2011 Eligibility
    Bachelor’s Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50 per cent marks in the aggregate. Two years post qualification work experience will be preferred. Candidates appearing for the final year degree examination can also apply.

    Test Pattern
    The exam has three sections. The sections are Language Skills, Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning. Total number of questions is 150. Total time allotted is 120 minutes. The questions contain multiple choices. There will be 25 per cent negative marking on each wrong answer. NMAT 2010 will be an online test.

    Paper analysis
    The paper did not contain any surprise. The Quantitative section was based on calculation and did not check the aptitude of the candidate. The Language section was of Moderate difficulty level. The Logical Reasoning section was also not a very difficult section to attempt. The entire exam was similar to the pattern of Bank PO exams. So it did not give much trouble to the candidates who had already attempted much difficult papers like CAT o XAT.

    Instructions
    Candidates are required to reach the test centre thirty minutes before the scheduled time of their test. Candidates reporting later than fifteen minutes after the scheduled time will not be admitted. No requests for exceptions will be entertained in this regard. The test centre may not be air conditioned but a comfortable environment will be provided.

    The candidate needs to bring the following to the test centre:
    a. Confirmation e-mail printout, without which they will not be allowed to take the test
    b. One primary ID and one secondary ID
    Candidates will have to mark the correct answer with a mouse click.
    Candidates can mark questions for review and come back to them after completing the section or the test, within the stipulated test time.
    NMIMS would not entertain any request for re-evaluation of the test by any candidate.

    Test Centers
    NMAT will be held in 19 centers in India. It will be held in the cities of Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Raipur.
